This year we will be staying at the lovely Holiday Inn in scenic Dearborn, Michigan. We're mixing it up this year by going to a brand new hotel we've never used before. It offers all the usual amenities such as bar (which they have agreed to keep open later just for us) and restaurant, pool, and moderately priced sleeping rooms. Unlike the Marriott from last year, the Holiday Inn has a vast, open lobby with tables and chairs suitable for lounging and talking.

The hotel is located at:

Fairlane Holiday Inn
5801 Southfield Freeway
Detroit, MI 48228

Yahoo, as always, offers a map. Pursuant to said map, the hotel is right off Ford Road in Dearborn, just West of Southfield Freeway (M-39). From Southfield Freeway, just take the Ford Road exit (exit 7) west. From Ford Road, there is a large "Holiday Inn" sign quite impossible to miss. Anyone who can get to I-75, I-275, I-96, I-94, or Southfield Freeway (M-39) should have no problem.

Within walking distance of the hotel are a Chili's, Wendy's, and (perhaps most importantly) a CompUSA. Within two miles drive you get: Two Boston Markets, two A & Ws, three Burger Kings, and four McDonald's.

The only bad thing? No airport, and hence, nothing to fire powerful energy weapons at. Well, I suppose that is limited only by your creativity. Ford World Headquarters is just across the street...

Our guest room group rate for the conference is $79.00 per night. Regularly it is $160.00, so be sure to mention you are with RC5 or Rubi Con to receive the discounted rate. Call 800 465 4329 or visit www.holiday-inn.com for reservations.
